You have a right to have a copy of basically anything you sign, if they refuse to allow you a copy, something is likely VERY wrong with what you've signed.

Employers will lie about your contract and agreements you have signed. HOLD ON TO THOSE RECEIPTS.

If an employer wants you to sign something, read it first, if they try and rush you or won't let you read it, don't sign it, PERIOD.

Altering terms of a signed agreement nearly always constitutes a breach of contract. If an employer wants you to sign a blank, incorrect, or obviously incomplete document, don't sign, this is the illegal equivalent of handing them a signed blank check with your rights.

If an employer wants to make a significant change to your duties, compensation, or rules, ask for it in writing, there's a good chance that if they refuse, the change is not legal.

KNOW YOUR BASIC RIGHTS. In the US, employers are REQUIRED by federal law to have the FLSA Employee rights poster and any state required equivalent conspicuously posted in a place that employees have access to. READ IT.
