I've been in food service/retail jobs since I was 17 (I'm 22, and getting out this year – just waiting for my next (administrative) job to process my preclearance checks etc). I'm currently working at the best job I've ever worked and even still there are glaring issues lol, a polished shit is still a shit. I just had my schedule changed last-minute without being asked, we're always short staffed, we get searched twice a shift, etc. Preaching to the choir I'm sure but idk how they haven't realised that they're more likely to keep on staff if they actually treat their staff well… lol
Idk just needed to complain. It's insane how much they try to exploit you, which is why it's so important to know your rights as an employee lol. And I'm not even living in the US, where I've been told everything is much worse low skill my ass. It's insane how many stories I've heard from my coworkers in food/drinks service in particular who have to abuse drugs to get thru their shifts. We need a massive overhaul. Retail & food service workers I love u and we all deserve so much better <3
