2 months ago, I got a job at Ross as a stock employee. The day before I started working, they had me watch videos and one of the videos had some anti union propaganda but that’s a discussion for another time. During the first few days, some of my coworkers taught me how to run out items onto the sales floor. From then on, I basically had to figure out where all the items were supposed to go. And they also told me that I was timed when I go into the sales floor to place the items. So basically, they gave me little training and already expected me to work like speedy Gonzalez and know where everything is supposed to go. And recently, the assistant manager pulled me into the office to tell me about my “poor performance”. The reason for my poor performance is because I’ve been going past the time limit when I run out the items. They don’t take into consideration about the fact that I had to run bins stuffed with items from top to bottom and I also have to hard tag them and put tape on most of them and they expect me to do that shit in under 15 minutes. Not to mention, my manager is a complete bitch. But it’s somewhat understandable since she probably hates her job to as well and has to deal with corporate. At the end of the first month is when my mental health started to take a decline. I began to take certain days off to try to stabilize and get better. Today I called in sick and they told me I need to give them a two hour notice. When they told me that, I told them that I didn’t even know I had to do that. The reason being is because I’ve called in sick before without giving a two hour notice and they didn’t say shit to me. But now they decide to say something. Like wtf. And when I told them I didn’t know I was supposed to do that, they told me that it’s in the hr handbook i got when I got hired but I don’t even know where it is. Fuck Ross.
