Fu*k this Attendance Policy

Just coming in here to vent about my company's new attendance policy that they dropped on us this week. Gonna be purposely vague here because they are a giant, global company. This corporation is huge and has many different branches, departments, teams, etc. It prides itself on being dynamic so policies and procedures are regularly changed (and then usually changed back because shit was working just fine to begin with). Last year, they fucked with our PTO by pretending to give us 3 extra days labeled at Floating Holidays…only those 3 days were taken from our original allotted PTO hours. This year they're upending the attendance policy by initiating a “points” (demerits) system to finally get rid of a few bad grunt workers who regularly no-call-no-show but still somehow “work within the current policy.” So naturally, to get rid of a few bad, low paid apples, they change the policy…

Smort.

Points are accrued for calling out sick no matter how many hours before your shift which basically encourages everyone to come in sick after this whole pandemic BS. Fun.
Points are accrued for leaving early for an emergency, so fuck you, single parents or anyone who gets sick/hurt on the job.
Points are accrued if you're late, which would make sense except you get the same amount of points from being 10 min late or 2 hrs late. So if you're running behind by 10 min, might as well take the 2 hours which still fucks over the team.

All of this feels pretty standard. Juvenilen and annoying, but not over the top. The part that really pissed me off was that these policies are fucking retroactive to the beginning of this year and those points are doubled. This doesn't even affect me personally because I'm a nerd with a (so far) good immune system. But to doubley punish people with a policy that they weren't privy to over the past 6 months? That's some grade A bullshit that gets me mad enough to tell strangers on the Internet about it.
