To give a little back story I’m a 21 year old college student who in less than 3 weeks is moving 800 miles back home after 4 years. Until this past November I had been working for my school, bringing in a measly 8.00 an hour with a max hours of 10 a week I could work. Do the math…I’m bringing in peanuts, the only reason it didn’t matter much was I was living on campus and still had a meal plan.
Well this past year I’ve been living off campus paying rent, and everything else adults pay for. Well 8.00 an hour even full time isn’t gonna cut it. I live in an very fast growing city in the southeast US, and the cost of living is increasing exponentially.
So I quit that job in late November, and after returning from winter break began looking for a job just to get some money. Well I apply and get offered a job working at a grocery store chain owned by Amazon (yeah, that one). They offered me my own hours and a starting pay of 16.50$ so I was on board.
Yesterday I handed in my two weeks… my supervisor to my surprise laughed and immediately said “I love when people waste my time, why did you even apply” I applied because like any adult I need fucking money to live. You work at a grocery store no one wants to make a career out of this. Needless to say I will not be working my last two weeks. If I wasted your time, I might as well not waste my time by coming back.
