My Gf (20f) works for her sisters. They own two restaurants in California and literally forced my girlfriend to work for them since she was 17. Her parents also just went along with it.
Now the sisters restaurants is very successful ( them literally bragging they make $5k-7k profit per day.) Unfortunately they treat their workers especially my girlfriend, their own sister like trash. They expect her to work for them as their manager with all sorts of expectations but pay her minimum wage.
Not only that behind closed doors they berate her and blame her for not running their business for them. Not just her but makes extremely racist comments about their employees and insults them as well. The worse of it all is they steal their employees tip while proclaiming they distribute it fairly.
How you say? They claim all the tip money at night and instead of directly splitting it between the employees. The older sisters keep it most of it for themselves but claim a lot of the tips on my girlfriends paycheck and make her give them the portion they are stealing. They told her to not tell anyone what they are making her do and especially not to me because they are afraid of the fact that I work for the IRS lol.
They also do shady things to other peoples paycheck like putting under their older sister name and having her cash it out and then pay them.
The thing that bothers me the most is the way they do not care about their employees especially their own younger sister. They even make her uber to work because she doesn’t have a car and they tried to make her pay for it. I also get worried about her ubering since she works mostly night shifts at the restaurant.
I figured the best thing to do is to report them to a the department labor board but not sure how to go about it or am I just getting too involved?
