Giving up on this crappy job

Hey everyone. I’m going to keep this short and sweet. I’m in 1st line IT. We have a north and south branch in the UK. I’m North. Each branch have different clients. My colleagues in the south have walked because the job is shit and now we in the north have to take their calls to raise their tickets for them then to get around to doing after a very long period of time. The callers call us back up demanding to know what their tickets will be looked at and I say the same thing everyday now. “Sorry, you’re through to North, our colleagues in the south are too busy to get through literally hundreds of tickets in a day, I don’t have an ETA, but I can add a note to your ticket because that’s all I can do as I don’t have access to your database or…

It’s getting to a point now where I’m just ignoring calls. Putting myself on away. When I started, I was answering all the calls. I was the fastest to answer. Now I have no motivation and no clue where I can work next. Underpaid, overworked and understaffed. People are walking and it makes us on 1st line look absolute incompetent. Micromanaging managers who sit and laugh and boss everyone else around all day. Fuck this.

Oh, and I’m expected to go “on-call” every few weekends of my time to only get paid for tickets I work on. This week, I’m doing two weeks straight with on call weekend in the middle. I’m free to do whatever I want when on call, but I’m very restricted to where I can go and how far I can travel.
