As a backdrop, I was hired as a full time employee and was guaranteed paid lunches as these are overnight positions.
2 weeks into my employment they inform everyone that they are no longer doing paid lunches and everyone now needs to email levery pay period that they are by themselves on shift to get a paid lunch.
When I asked about the clarity I was told “that's just how they're doing it now.”
So I was a good employee and did what I was told. Guess what, they never adjsuted my timecard after i told them, like i was asked to, and was shorted even more hours.
Sending this email now to my manager, but I just wanted some advice on whether I'm justified in fighting this?
Additionally I know that there are employees getting paid more for the same job, which is now illegal in my state under the Equal Pay Act. Hence why i ask about merit or tenured based systems that increase pay.
(There is someone here who works the same shifts as I do, but on the weekdays so she receives her paid lunches as she is by herself on those nights, she also gets a better hourly rate but has been here longer).
(I'm not against people getting paid more for being there longer, however if that is the case why hasn't that system been explained to me and why has she only received 1 pay raise in 5 years of employment?)
Thank you!
