The title sorta explains it. I (23 F) work 8 hrs a day and get 1 unpaid 30 min break I was fully booked that day so I just wanted to step out and get something to eat… I was driving in a suburban area going the speed limit but apparently that was too slow because the race car behind me decided to speed around me then step on his breaks so that I would hit him. He then got out of the car started hitting mine hit me then threw a drink and the bottle in my face. He sped off I didn’t get his license plate everything happened so quickly.
I was right around the corner from work so I went back and told my coworkers what had happened l was inconsolable I called the police they said they were on their way my coworker called my manager and my manager told her to push my appointments down so I can talk to the police but not to cancel them.. that was it I still had to take my appointments they still expected me to work after being attacked by a man. I personally called my clients myself and rescheduled them and told them I was leaving to go to the police station to file a report (at this point I waited for 2 hrs and the police still hadn’t shown up)
I was expected to open the next day. My face was swollen and red. I told them I would be staying home because of my face and honestly because I was still shaken up. They asked me to find someone to cover my shift.
No one has asked me if I’m okay. The owner who will message me whenever even if I’m off the clock in regards to work has not said one thing to me.. I understand that we are not friends they have a business to run and they don’t have to have compassion for me but is it not still wrong how they’re going about all of this?
I want to quit but unfortunately I know how hard it is to find work and have bills to pay..I don’t even feel ready to go back today but here we are.. am I taking the fact that they don’t care too personal?
Just so I’m not biased I will say I went home early a couple days prior due to having an asthma attack so I guess they were already annoyed with me.
