I work for a School Yearbook Photography company. Our clientele are various public schools for sports shoots and yearbook photography.
Today one of the coaches of the team took a middle school girl's hair tie, flicked it at my head and laughed in front of the kids to humiliate me. Normally I would break their fucking teeth in if we were on the streets. Instead, I let the faculty admin know about the incident after getting the coaches' name. My higher-up who was on set with me called me stupid for saying that in the parking lot after we left. He said “you should've told me about it first, you're so stupid.” After he insisted the incident wasn't a big deal! As if he wanted to sweep it under the rug.
I've been late a couple of times in the past month and have signed a written notice from my manager, and I told my manager I would take necessary actions to correct my tardiness, and I've been successful at doing so. Every mistake I make, I make due effort to improve on. I'm always respectful with clientele and students. I'm really trying to be cordial here on my end, but my patience is running thin.
This company is in TX where I live. I kinda get the vibe of White Suburbia, Conservatism, Christian, Ken and Barbie-land ideas from them. There's others there with tattoos, and another neurodivergent gender neutral employee that's awesome to be around. But the management is a mix between conservative/liberal. And yes, the right wing sporty types have of course cliqued up.
I'm also a Goth Rocker. I love my mohawk, dying my hair black, my tattoos. I'm proudly Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Racist, with Anarcho-Punk beliefs against American Imperialism, Colonialism and the corporate elite. Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, and KMFDM's music really opened my mind in middle school when I got into Punk/Goth, Metal and Industrial music.
I honestly feel like I'm being treated like a black sheep here. This happens at so many places I've worked at before.
Should I resign? Or collect unemployment after a termination I feel is coming?
