So after taking flma leave after my daughter was born and the rest of my vacation time to care for her, me and my wife realized that we needed someone to stay at home. I decided once my vacation was over I'd summit my two weeks at the company I had been working at for the last 10 years. They pulled me in an office sometime later after letting them know and fired me because “between the flma and using the rest of your vacation that was the final straw.” And terminated me.
Can I file for unemployment? I'm in south carolina.
The only thing I'm really worried about is a bad reference now when I'm looking for a new job. How worried should I be about this considering the circumstances and the fact that it was my employer for the last ten years?
Thank you.
