So in my workplace we get 3 paid sick days a leave. I took one about 7 months ago. Then two weeks later tried to take another one on a Friday but was told it would be unpaid. No idea why, but the HR person was immediately confrontational when I said I couldn't come in and viewed it with suspicion.
So then now, 6-7 months later, I take another sick day. It's a Monday. Then two weeks later, I'm incredibly sick all weekend. I message my team to let them know I might be unable to come in, that was fine. But on the Monday, I still feel terrible, have to message HR to get the day off.
I get told that it seems like there's a pattern forming, and that we'd have to have a talk about it. They're immediately very passive aggressive and there's the not so veiled undertones that they don't believe I'm sick. I then take a COVID test and test positive. I message to let them know.
I just get told I'm going to have to not come in for the whole week and it will not be paid because I've used my 3 sick days.
At no point did they ever ask if I was okay or wish me well. When I came back on Monday, they did message asking if I was better, and asked if I had followed up on a meeting I missed when I was off. I replied saying I was feeling better thanks, and I had just followed up when I got the email.
I then get a reply saying that it isn't good enough and I should have been more proactive and followed up earlier. It was so obvious they just emailed me for an excuse to snipe at me, it's so obvious what they think of me.
And this morning at a meeting they made a point of saying they hope everyone is aware of how the sick policy works and how to use it in a proper manner.
Like what the fuck? Am I crazy or has this person just taken an extreme dislike to me and wants to belittle me at every turn?
I'll also add that my contract says I can get annual leave if I ask 3 weeks in advance, but when I did, it was denied. When I said I really needed the time off to make an appointment, I was told I should focus less on trying to get time off and focus more on working.
