At the beginning of the month I was working at a “stable” company/account and then out of nowhere I was told our contract renewal was underbid, and as a result the account would be folding at the end of August. We were essentially told to go fuck ourselves and good luck, regardless of experience.
To make matters worse, any positions that DID open over the last month were pre-selected. As in, they will open the position publicly but realistically they've already selected who they want, so it's all for show/legal reasons. It's always been like this at this company, and others.
Mind you, of course, this is a “family company who believe in hard work and positive culture”. Yea, ok.
Know your worth people. You don't owe your employers anything.
