Started this job a little over two months ago. It was a legal services company that was very small (10 people overall, 5-7 in office at any given time.) I was just getting my footing and learning how things work and I went in today and they gave me the news. They said that business was slow, orders weren’t coming in like they used to, and I was the last to be hired so of course I had to be let go.
Everyone at that company was either family or friends, which did make me feel iffy at first, but I had to get out of the job I was in prior to this one. I’m glad I’m not where I was, but of course I’m kicking myself. I have a feeling they never intended to have me on permanently. My benefits would have started in just a couple of weeks. I’m not shocked, but I still feel betrayed.
On the plus side, I was looking for another job closer to home (I had an hour commute) or even remote, I just hate that now I’m on a time crunch to do it. Thankfully my partner earns most of the money so we’ll be okay for a little bit especially if I’m able to be on unemployment for a little bit. But it still sucks and I feel defeated.
