I work as a medical biller at a hospital that will soon integrate next year with a university healthcare facility. I have worked as a biller for about a month & I don’t think it’s for me. Patient service representative is more my thing. I had a meeting with my supervisor, she’s been checking up on me (seeing how I’m doing, having access to things, etc.). In a professional manner, I expressed that though I love working for the company, medical billing may not be it for me & once I’m eligible for transfer, I may look into patient service representative. According to policy, I’m eligible for transferring departments in 6 months. Is there a way to expedite this or should I wait til January? I still intend to finish out my role if need be. Also, is there an advantage in transferring? What’s stopping me from applying to a different position?
