Got lowballed by the recruiter – my colleague revealed his salary because she knew it was unfair.

Hey everyone, So, quick background: I lost a job that paid really well and spent three months on the job hunt. Finally got contacted by a recruiter for a new role, but it came with a 40% pay cut. Tried to negotiate, but got told the company wasn't open to it. Took it anyway because I needed the job. Fast forward to today, 4 months later, had a chat with a coworker who's in the same role and has similar experience as me. Turns out he's making 30% more. Definitely feeling a bit low about this, especially since I commute three hours a day for this job. Before this, I was remote for six years, so it's a tough adjustment. Currently considering my options, including interviewing with other companies. Anyone have advice or experience with a situation like this?
