Got spit on by a man at my service job

As the title says, a homeless man spit in my face after I told him that the bathroom at my restaurant chain was reserved for clients. I was the supervisor on duty and I am a woman of smallish stature. He was two feet from my face when this happened. We operate in a neighborhood with a high population of addicts and homeless. I've raised security concerns many times with my direct superior and filed at least a half dozen reports of incidents like this over the past two years, and nothing has been done. Police take over an hour to get here sometimes. I do not feel safe and I have hit my limit of traumatizing experiences at work. I don't have a backup plan but I want to do something to improve working conditions for myself and my co-workers who have to put up with this kind of…
