Got up four hours early because I thought I was being trained on opening

For context, I was talking with one of our managers a few days ago and he suggested I come in early on Thursday to get some training on top of my schedule shift. Was gonna be a 12 hour shift total but whatever, I could use the money. He said he would bring it to our director later that day, and I even reminded him over text. Well, it turns out they flaked without telling me (I had to ask thirty minutes before my shift to figure this out), stating they “couldn’t afford the hours”. I’d already gotten hardly any sleep trying to catch this shift; I’ve never felt my time so disrespected before. What’s the best way to bring all of this up with my boss? I’d like to keep this position for the time being at least because I want the job experience, but this the straw that broke the camels back. I need clarification this won’t happen again.

Edit: removed SMS (sorry mods!)

Edit 2: I’m dropping a line to my boss this afternoon, both asking for clearer communication regarding shifts and when I can be certified in my position. Appreciate you guys for helping me put my foot down!
