So Friday evening I had gotten food poisoning (at the time didn't know stomach was upset was all) I usually work on Saturdays so Saturday morning I texted my boss I was going to take a sick day no big deal. Sick all Saturday and all Sunday. So this morning I was still feeling sick but I knew I still had to go to work so out of respect I texted my boss saying I was going to be a little late. He said and I quote.
“I apologize if you are misunderstood on how a work schedule goes but There is no job in America where you can tell them when you will be in to work. You have to ask or request. Please don't let this happen again. You are to ask or request if you can come in late or take time off. Expect us to move forward without you if you continue to tell redacted when you will be able to work. You have a schedule and you are to work it unless you have asked or requested and granted permission to miss or be late. I have to ask permission and so do you.”
So basically not only was I disrespected but apparently I have to ask permission to be sick. My question is am I overreacting by thinking I've been disrespected or is this normal?
