“Happy Boss’s Day”??

In the work chat today they're commemorating “Boss's Day” [sic], and I'm more than a little perplexed why we should celebrate/give thanks to our “bosses” (I never use that word – and I'm sure I'm not the only one) on any damned day. Gratitude isn't the feeling I get when I think of the gaslighting, nitpicking, heedlessness of those people. When I have worked under leaders whose qualifications were beyond/above mine and to whom I deferred for their expertise (including longer professional experience – these people were older than me), it wasn't as if I was working for a “boss”–I was working with a professional colleague. And why would anyone need to “celebrate” a colleague, when you're working shoulder-to-shoulder with them? A “boss” is an idle-ass creature who's more likely to study your punches/breaks and other HR-related concerns than actually working with you to further the company's business. They don't…
