rant
TL/DR at the end.
I work in an office nights. I had to work last night and I have to work tonight.
There is no labor day off for me.
In addition to that, the new younger boss has chosen tonight to “shadow” me so I can teach him what I am doing.
I applied for his job. I did not get it.
He was supposed to be an assistant to the older boss.
On the organizational chart, he has the same job title as the older boss and the same supervisor as the older boss.
My suspicion is that he has bern brought in to get rid of both the older boss and me. I am even older than the older boss.
Accurate or not, my feelings is that new younger boss will be gathering what he can tonight to make a case for firing me.
I am of retirement age and hoping to last through the end of December.
Fuck this. Fuck me. Fuck the corporate suits.
And fuck ageism too.
I am stick a fork in me done.
At least, if I get fired, I have the option to retire.
I may be donating plasma and showing up at soup kitchens.
But I will be done.
*TL/DR: Waiting til the end of December to retire is financially prudent.
But if the new younger boss gives me the axe, at least I have the option to retire immediately.
He is “shadowing” me tonight and I assume will be looking for “reasons” thst I can be shit-canned.*
