Basically we have gone through a merger and my job is an absolute s h i t show. We’re all overworked and underpaid and things are just terrible. I’m losing sleep and this is really affecting my mental (and now physical) health. And as a “good employee” my reward was always more work without it even a raise or promotion. I honestly just wish I got severance like some other people did – but apparently I was too important for that, yet not important enough to not be treated like utter garbage. I’ve stuck around here for a while because my coworkers are generally nice but the company has taken a huge turn for the worst.
Anyways, I have solid experience so I have some interviews lined up. And I know I should probably get an offer in my hands before giving my 2 weeks notice (I work in a tight knit industry where people can screw you over if you “burn bridges” so I don’t think I can get around that). But I’m considering bouncing while I’m still job searching. Is this a terrible idea though? I don’t want it to look like I got fired because if I left it would be voluntary. But it would give me proper time to focus on my interviews and also have some time to breathe before starting a new job.
