I'm an environmental professional and with my current job I do primarily office based work. We've been working from home mostly since COVID and now they want us to start coming back in at least 3 days per week. Our office is horrible. It's an old elementary school that has been somewhat converted to an office. I say somewhat because they've literally just put cubicles in the gymnasium, there are no windows. It's loud, distracting, and the lighting is awful and gives me migraines. We don't have assigned seating and have to book a spot every week, so the ergonomics are a crap shoot. There are some offices, but they are mostly intended for senior management. I use them when they don't show up because they are also up for grabs. I currently only go in once per week and every time I come home with a headache and am exhausted and just lie on the couch. I am tortured by the thought of leaving my doggo at home and missing the small amount of daylight available in the winter, not to mention the winter commute. My director is excited because she “thrives on the energy of everyone working so hard on the same goals”. Barf. I'm an introvert and I absolutely do not thrive around people, especially absolute keeners who actually care about work. Baaahhh just a rant.
