Applied for a cushy government job, took the required test for certification, got my background check done, now it's almost time to do my first real (paid) practice shift, should be cool, right? Nope. The elderly man who reeks of stale cigarettes (with an underlayer of cat piss) who will be doing the shift after mine (a full day is marked by three 8 hour shifts; I would work the second/swing) has suddenly found shit to complain about, like the fact that I have come up there a few times to train on the computer system (that cannot be accessed from outside the confines of the office). Now, the office manager got a wall plug-in (with a manly scent) and the old guy said, outrightly, that it smells like a titty bar/whorehouse and said that I “must have been there”. I haven't been there in WEEKS because of this guy making an issue of something that wasn't even an issue and the manager was allowing me, and the other candidate, to come do practice shifts when we could. Of course, everyone else in this office has XY chromosomes and I'm the only XX, other women have bounced out shortly after getting hired or after having issues with this individual.
My mom says to just ignore him and, if necessary, to play his game, but I'm already tired of this bullshit and I haven't even started yet.
Just a rant, but, curious, what would you do in this case?
