So my boss and I have a long history of not getting along. Every single step of the way, the conversations with HR have been positive and focused on improving life for both of us. Yesterday, however, my boss informed me he’s putting me on a PIP. He didn’t put me on one, just said “he’s going to” when I get back from my vacation, which starts today. (Yes, he decided to tell me this the day before my vacation). But when I asked him for examples, all three of what he cited were either not true or misrepresented. I have paperwork showing that none of these incidents are my fault. This PIP is all personal, and I think he’s going yo have a hard to proving otherwise.
I’m considering my response, I’m wondering if it makes sense to file a complaint to HR (who is also on the email about the PIP). I know HR is “not my friend”, but I feel like this PIP is personal and unwarranted, and it feels like my boss is bullying me into quitting a day before my vacation. We also have an open door policy in our handbook, allowing any member of the the staff to contact anyone in the C-Suite and/or HR regarding any topic.
By the way, I’m almost 100% ready to leave anyway. This company is totally awful and this is obviously the final straw. I’m just very uncomfortable with the fact that there is this one sided picture about my performance and have a strong desire to at least clear my name.
Thoughts?
