I am an immunocompromised person who was extremely fortunate in my first job to have a boss that was willing to work around it. I would work very odd schedules and hours sometimes to accommodate whatever illness I was experiencing.
Didn’t realize how lucky I was until I took a new job in which I was forced to take short term multiple times because I flew through my sick time and would not allow any work done outside of in person 9-5. This place was micromanaged into the ground but somehow had an army of loyal employees. When the company hit lay offs, myself and another employee who also had health issues were the only two let go. Coincidentally of course. I was already in the middle of interviews, actually accepted an offer the same day I got laid off which was emotionally weird. I got lucky as hell.
Finally in my new job, working with familiar and trusting faces. I’ve been at work 3 days this month between vacation and sick time. Popping in to support a quick activity or meeting as needed. Everyone’s just wishing me well and hoping I come back asap. And I’ve never been more enriched and less stressed at work.
QUIT THAT STUPID JOB. THERE IS A BETTER ONE I PROMISE.
