Deleted my last post but spoke to my manager. , i was hired as a server/bartender for a new buisness thats been open for a month and a half. I've know the owner personally for a few years and spent a 9 hour day helping him unpaid last year to help get his 'dream' started. They've had plenty of staff turn around since the start, I was okay filling in the back of the house to help him succeed.
Now Performance reviews are coming up, and apparently im more “suited for the kitchen” rather than server. I want to note I've been the only server to work both in the kitchen and Bar, even though “everyone will know both”. I've worked near 50/50 shifts and with mangament changes and front house changes I've been trying my best to catch up. I feel taken advantage of. Out of the orginal staff only 5 remain……they're hiring new servers, instead and giving my shifts away rather than training me. I'm literally working two vastly different jobs at this job…. I not bad by any means, I know I'm a stronger bartender than many other.
No benefits, $15 hour. If I lose out on tips I'm taking a 51% pay cut….not only that but they took a shift from me. I left my other job 10 days ago for this, a job with more flexibility, and tuition assistance. This job was literally talking to prospects everyday and minute. This is my job for rent, school and im saving for future…..
I've broken down twice today, it's been one of the worst weeks my lifeand this has been the cherry on top.
What the hell do I say? There aren't many jobs that pay this well for both my age and area, and don't want to lose it, but I don't want to taken advantage of.
