HireVue video interviews

I've been job hunting recently and landed a new job that I interviewed for… with a human. Two humans actually. It was over Zoom but it was still an actual interview with an actual person. I recently got an email from one of the other jobs I applied for around the same time and the want to move on to the “next stage” which apparently involves me dressing up and filming myself answering questions. They had the gall to actually say this was an interview. I won't be responding. I cannot believe that a federal job is doing this video crap. An interview is supposed to go both ways. You are interviewing the company just as much as they are interviewing you. But no. This way, they have even more of an upper hand as if they even needed it. They have removed all semblance of agency from the candidates.…

An interview is supposed to go both ways. You are interviewing the company just as much as they are interviewing you. But no. This way, they have even more of an upper hand as if they even needed it. They have removed all semblance of agency from the candidates. It's dehumanizing and disrespectful. It's not an interview. It's improv.
