I apply for a job at AutoZone, they tell me to call Wednesday to speak to the store manager to set up an interview.
I call on Wednesday and they say he’s out with COVID, I have to call next week.
I call the next Wednesday, they say he won’t be in until Friday because he’s off those two days.
During that week-long wait, I get a call from another AutoZone, further away and on a toll road, so not ideal. I go in for an interview anyway and the manager there tells me he can send my interview information along so I can work closer to home.
I call Friday, the store manager is out sick and won’t be back until Monday.
I call Monday, schedule an interview for today.
I go in today, the store manager pulls up my information almost as soon as I get there, and then tells me that because I’m going back to school in September, I’ll only be working there for about two weeks due to how long it takes for the background check to go through as well as training.
Fucking store jerked me around for two weeks and now it’s the middle of July, meaning any sort of summer job is almost impossible at this point.
I could have been working at the other store by now. The store manager had my information, he could have ran the background check while he was out sick. Any number of things could have happened, but now this along with all the other jobs I applied for since May have become a massive pile of rejections or outright ghosting.
Fucking horseshit.
