So where I work (retail) my hours have been suddenly slashed and dumped down the drain, starting after I had returned from requested time off. I finally decided to ask what was going on, and I had to wait several days to be able to talk about it.
What I was told, was that my hours were being cut because of a couple surveys in which customers complained about me, and because of a task I had been unable to complete on time before (I had improved significantly in that task, though it’s important to note that it is a labor intensive task they only allow a small amount of time to do) but had completed on time the last several times I had done it. (they did not acknowledge that)
I have so many problems with this.
For one, I was only told a vague idea of the contents of one of these surveys, and the survey described had happened 2 weeks before the day of discussion. The apparent contents were vague enough that it left me confused, with no idea who it may have been or how anyone saw me that way.
For two, in regards to the task they called me “overly methodical”, yet in practice if I am not methodical, every little thing is not picked.
And third, none of this was brought up to me until I went and asked what was going on. No mention of me being punished, no mention of any wrong doings or customer disapproval, nothing. They waited for me to ask. After a week where I wasn’t scheduled at all despite not asking to be off.
I’m already planning to leave. But I’m hoping I can rake these people through the coals for this.
