how many of you chose careers based on pay rate?

How many of you went into a certain field, not because you wanted to, but because of the financial safety net. Unfortunately I'm one of them. I wanted to go into the creative/art field and realised the pay was garbage, people don't care about whatever skills you have as long as it benefits them, the mentality of “Oh, you taught yourself Russian and you know how to play 5 instruments and you wrote 2 books? That's.. cool.. how does that make me money?” How many of you here had aspirations such as art, music, writing, architecture, philosophy, fitness, charity work and ended up working in marketing, finance, tech, software development etc
