How many of you have been able to keep a job in your early career for at least one year?

So, next week, my manager is going to tell me if I am going to be placed on the PIP or not. I made a ferverent effort to “improve” on my deficiencies, despite a hunch in the back of my mind that my manager might be out to get me. If my employer ultimately decides to put me on the 2-week PIP and I get let go, I would have lasted around 6-7 months with this company. Last year I was with another company for 8 months and it was disorganized, stresful and full of antagonism or grumpiness from my coworkers and employer. That was my first job after graduating from the pandemic in May 2020, where between that time I was unemployed for 1.5 years. Last year I was with another company for 8 months and it was disorganized, stresful and full of antagonism or grumpiness from my coworkers and employer. That was my first job after graduating from the pandemic in May 2020, where between that time I was unemployed for 1.5 years.

I had previous jobs or contract internships with other companies, but they didn't last, because it's my understanding that a lot of these companies are just plain cheap.

After my first job after graduating, I was infrequently employed, because I was dealing cancer, and recently finished treatment “hopefully” 2 months ago. I had a couple of stints I didn't put on my resume, but none of them lasted more than a month, because it was blatantly obvious to me these companies were mismanaged.

I'm crossing my fingers that my boss actually has my best interest, and isn't trying to cover the company's as by firing me in the name of greed. I have good side hustles as a safety net but I often don't get paid until I reach a milestone on a project I'm assigned, which can take several weeks to a month instead of just 2 weeks.

It makes me feel really bad about myself that I have a track record for such short runs with other companies. Mainly because it makes me look like an undesirable candidate if I have to go job hunting, again.
