How much pay increase for a longer commute?

I’ve been actively but not urgently looking for a new job. My responsibilities have increased in recent months but my employer was not open to “an increase in pay” in October because the end of the year review was right around the corner. I told them I needed paid more and they denied my request. Anyway, so I’m job searching but I don’t want to leave until I find something better suited. Some of the jobs I’ve applied for are 45 minutes away whereas my current job has great, flexible hours show up anytime before 9:30 and basically get your 40 hours in for the week, but pay is low. The new positions are at least a 3-5,000 pay increase. I haven’t been offered anything yet but I’ve started going on interviews and this is what they post on the job listing. I’m struggling how to know when to take the leap with pay if it means a longer commute. Obviously this varies by location. I’m in more of a rural setting so I have less options. Right now I’m fortunate to have a 8 minute commute. Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance!
