I am based out in a totally different timezone than my direct manager (Andy) so when I joined early 2023, I was assigned this “mentor” (Bob) to me along with a “team lead” (Lisa)
Andy, bob and Lisa, all three report to the director (Mark)
Now Bob was responsible for my training for day one. Bob is kind of a person who is very demanding, needs 100% on everything. Very technical but 0 people skills
He helped me on a couple of things on Friday and then on following Tuesday night at 10pm ( on his off day) he sent me a calendar invite with the subject line “feedback”
I couldn't sleep the whole night.
A bit of back story as that I have had an episode of him really bashing me ina meeting in front of Lisa when I had a disagreement on something a month ago
Anyway I got my manager on a meeting and told him that BOb is giving me tough time and wants everything to be 100%
As an example he sent me an email telling me to change the bullet points to numbers on a case that was sent to engineering internally. No where there is a policy that points ina document should be numbered and not bullets
It's a technical role so no one cares anyway.
Initially I tried to absorb this by myself but now I am losing my sleep over these interruptions from Bob
I have told Andy about three times and sought help but he says that he cannot direct him to not approach me in a way as I am in a unique position and mostly he is trying to help me.
Sorry about the long post but I need managers perspective on how I should reach Andy to get him to help me.
I love the role and opportunities this job provides but this one guy is making my life miserable.
