My father worked for his company for I believe 35ish years. The salary wasn't the best but wasn't too bad either. My father was from the generation of “you do what your boss says while keeping your head down”. For 35 years, he did just that. No complaints. He kept teaching me to do the same.
Then it happened. My mother got cancer around 1999. The company stepped up and paid for EVERYTHING for my mother. The company owner himself (this was a BIG company) came and said “I don't want you to worry about a single invoice for your wife's treatment. You want to do it here or your home country, upto you. Just send me the invoice” and he was true to his words. We brought our mother to our home country and got her the treatment for her breast cancer. She got chemo and was cured.
But Cancer returned about a year later with a vengeance and this time it attacked her brain. We feared the company this time won't be as generous. But again, they said the same thing. My father took flights back home every almost second week (flights are EXPENSIVE) and the company paid for those tickets too, along with all the treatment expenses. My mother passed away in 2002.
I will let you take a guess about my fathers loyalty towards his company. He has been retired for almost 15 years and STILL he says how much he loves his company. I know several other people who works in his company and they LOVE working for this company. This company, during covid the owners son (that owner has died or retired I believe and his son is the owner) said to ALL of his employees “Times are hard. But I don't want you to worry 1 bit. Use this time to take as much training as needed. You will get your salary on time like always. We have taken such hits before and we are ready. Be safe”.
This is how you get loyalty.
