How to make sure I get severance

I’ve just been given a second and “final” warning letter from my supervisor of 3 months. This is at a company where I’ve worked for 8.5 years with no problems. The letters generally deal with how I speak with her and that I have a negative attitude. Words like “aggressive” and “dismissive” are used and frankly, the documents are so exaggerated and over the top that I would consider them dishonest. This came about as I had applied for a different position internally that would have been a better situation for myself and my family, but now that I have the second letter on my file, my application will be rejected. I have a young family and am fairly confident I will be able to find new employment but rather than quitting, I want to get let go so I can qualify for some type of compensation. I’ve gone on…

I’ve gone on medical leave for the time being while I sort things out and figure out the best plan. Going back, bending the knee and continuing to work in the stressful and soul destroying environment is not an option.
