How to obtain work with a mental disability? 10 years experience in I.T. and 5 years as System’s admin and Network admin. Diagnosed 4 years ago..

I was diagnosed with a mental disability in the last 4 years. I knew something was wrong, but instead of seeking help for it I tried dealing with it. This led to more or less a catastrophic set of events. I went from working my career with 40+ hours, amazing co workers, ok boss, and fantastic work. This was my 6th contract with this company and I have more contracts from other company's under my belt. Recent contract was due to end in about a month and things were winding down before the next contract. I let them know the situation I was in and asked for that last month off to figure this out. They seemed fine with it. I even did the math and said they'd save money not having someone the last month because work is so slow. Then it ramps back up during the start of thenext contract. They were on board. Said I'd have a place there the following contract and kept my credentials active in the system so if worse comes to worse I could remote In and fix a problem. 1 week into that 1 month off creds stop working. Only noticed due getting alerts from the system of my deativation…. I set up auto emails to email higher ups for proof of deactivation….

Called them. Basically they decided it was best to not have me come back….

So fuck. Cant work there anymore. They didn't say it but I've been there long enough and know everyone very well. I became a liability to them… and I got fucked for telling them.

I've been applying and been getting a CRAZY amount of recruiters and HR reps calling me. It's over welling tbh. This allowed me to sift through the better offers and make a choice that would better suit in my life. All of which were 40%+ more pay…

I get to the point of the interviews about non discriminatory of disabilities and they ask of you have any. Which is a catch 22…… if you tell them you have a disability that could impede work they seem to find any reason to not hire you. This has happened 4 times. They seem interested, interviews 2 of 3. They hand paper work for into and background check, and drug test info after background check. And they've decided to not move forward with hiring me.

So I'm at a loss here. If I tell the truth of a disability I likely wont get hired. If I lie, they can use the fact I lied to fire me.

I'm not struggling (yet) and have decided to use this free time to get another cert or two. But I'm kind of worried. Cant do unemployment due to quitting the contract. Cant really get on disability because it takes over a year, nor do I want to.

All the jobs mentioned about were work at home. I tell them I'm on meds and go to counseling. But this doesnt seem to matter.

Any ideas how I can get back into this field without just out right lying? I love this work tbh.
