There are a lot of posts shitting on HR (for good reason) but you should realize that HR was never and was never supposed to be your friend. They exist to manage humans as a resource, the same as any other resource. That has nothing to do with your goals or needs, and never did. It’s right there in the name. It’s not resources for humans, it’s humans as a resource period. They will do the bare minimum to keep you as an employee satisfied, and only as long as that doesn’t outstrip the cost of not doing so. They are there to maximize the efficiency of the humans as a column on a figurative spreadsheet, and will represent you to the point that it’s cheaper than abandoning you. No real specific point, but don’t go to HR expecting a die hard ally.
