I work for G, but at customer location. Since I'm not an employee of Customer, those employees have much more seniority and sway than I do. I'm used to this dynamic, been my norm for quite some time.
At Customer is employee D who has a PhD that doesn't apply to our work but everyone calls him Dr. D. Because of what I do, I call everyone by first names because my job involves leveling the field. That's literally the only thing I can think of that put me in this guy's cross hairs.
Started here in Nov with a ton of experience and creds. Take over his team in Dec. Cruise in January (planned, of course) and got the flu immediately after getting back, did my damndest to work remote through it. Wasn't good enough, D complained that I wasn't present enough and he wanted me off his team. Fine, now I'm on another.
But D isn't done with me. In May he files a complaint that I'm overstepping in emails. I'm not and have the receipts, but he's an employee so his word means more.
Colleague of G asks me to babysit D's team for a week; D says he'd rather have no one than have me.
He works 80% in a different location than me. I rarely see him, and when I do I'm as polite and engaged as the situation requires, nothing more. Cut to him seeing me 2 days last week, and I get called into a meeting. He's filed yet another complaint that I'm disengaged and chronically late. A, he wouldn't have a clue about either, and B, again I have the receipts but he's an employee so 🤷️
My boss puts me Ona PIP and labels it “final notice “. And my group got moved under the department that D is #2 for.
So let's make this interesting. Bets on how long until he makes another bogus complaint that gets me fired?
