I already have enough on my plate as an insurance service rep, already VERY hard to keep up on most days. Then more tasks are added by coworkers/boss to guarantee I can’t keep caught up!

I’m don’t know if this belongs here. If not, please feel free to point me in the right direction. I have a loooong list of things to do as the only CSR in our office. I do 90% of changes, I am first on phones, I reach out more than once to clients who are late on payments, communicate with mortgage companies for homeowners, my boss sends me more than half her emails from clients and underwriters, I am the only one in the office who takes care of beginning of day tasks (which are follow ups for clients sent by corporate for agent’s offices to complete.) I could keep going but we’d be here all day. I finally got to a point I can complete most changes with clients while on the phone with them. (Add cars, switch out cars, add/subtract coverage, etc.) So that’s something I was thrilled…

I finally got to a point I can complete most changes with clients while on the phone with them. (Add cars, switch out cars, add/subtract coverage, etc.) So that’s something I was thrilled about. Knocking most changes off my to-do list because it’s done while on the phone with client. Less likely to encounter too much backed up work.

Until my boss and coworkers came up with this “brilliant” idea. When a client is adding a car to their policy that has a loan, I am to hold off on completing the change until my coworkers have an opportunity to quote
them Life insurance to go along with new car to “help pay off loan if something happens to insured.” I get it. It’s a sales tactic. But at the same time this puts me unnecessarily behind. I finally get a good system and…this. Yesterday is a perfect example. A client wanted to add a car. Instead of it taking five minutes, it wasn’t complete until today. And that’s only because I finally got fed up waiting. I issued the change so the insured would have coverage and emailed her ID card. My coworker was irritated that I sent the client her auto ID before she could talk to her about the quote.

Too bad! I have a endless list of things to do. I’m not sitting for days on a change that takes 5 damn minutes! So figure out a faster system or I’m not participating in this nonsense!
