I work at an email job with a little bit of customer interaction.
My workload is split up into two people, but my coworker was recently fired after being excessively late and calling out. I was assigned his work and told it would be temporary but it seems like it is going to be a permanent arrangement.
I am swamped with work. I am backed up for the first time since starting at this company about a year ago. I address this with my managers but get told to wait as they find someone else.
My manager asks why I stopped sending her a recap of the daily work I’ve done every day. I let her know that I can only do that once the day is nearing an end and I’ve been busier than usual on account of having to do the jobs of two people. Additionally I can only begin the report when I am not interacting with a client. In short- I literally don’t have time, and without the ability to clock in OT she would have to wait until the following day to receive that report. I include the work I had completed the prior days as well in my email.
I get called into her office. And she has the email I sent her printed out. She tells me that due to the fact that I was not matching the work me and the fired coworker were doing together- she cannot really go ahead and tell HR to hire somebody new for the position. In essence she is saying that I am not doing enough work to prove that another coworker is necessary, but if she thought about that for more than a second the reason I am not “doing enough work” is because I am being assigned a workload for TWO FUCKING PEOPLE.
I also know she’s made inappropriate comments about me when I’ve talked to overweight female coworkers- something along the lines of “Timurjimmy has a type.”
