I am getting laid off at some point in 2024.

I have received information indicating that my entire department will undergo layoffs between April-August. There is a chance that I might be asked to stay beyond August, but the situation remains uncertain. However, I am certain that the day of layoffs is approaching. When the layoffs occur, I will be offered a severance package of $50,000, equivalent to six months' salary. Given this substantial severance, it doesn't seem financially prudent to actively seek a new job at the moment. The company has assured us that we will receive a minimum of five weeks' notice prior to the official termination date. How should I navigate this situation?
