I'm a 30 something elder millennial in America. I don't mind hard work and fully believe that everyone should work hard in one way or another for character development. However I got fired for health related reasons October of last year and I'm no longer even making enough to pay my bills and my health is only getting worse with age. What I hate is my health isn't bad enough to get disability but just bothersome enough to effect my work proformance mentally and physically. I'm exhausted, I've been working hard since I was 16 years old. I'm just now about to finally have some kind of insurance with my current employer (which by the way is shitty and won't help almost at all.) I've put in hundreds of applications with zero call backs. I've even tried adjusting my resume a few times that didn't help either. I've done some type of warehouse work or retail most of my life. I don't mind doing those jobs BUT I do believe once you get past a certain age there should be an expected higher pay for employees that are of a higher age and higher experience level. They've implemented this concept in Australia and I really wish they'd do the same in America. I should be making a minimum 16 to 18 an hour with my experience. At my current employment I'm not even making 14. To give you context I haven't made so little since I was in my early 20s. I feel like I'm worth much more, I don't get fired from jobs usually, I don't have huge gaps in my job history, I have management experience in both retail and warehouse work. I don't understand why all the good paying jobs won't even consider me. Also I've been doing everything in my power to take care of my mental and physical health (with out insurance) unfortunately its so costly I don't have the funds to fully take care of all the underlying issues.
