Kinda a rant here, but this seems like the safest place for it and a good place to get advice. For the past 2.5 years I have worked at a Chinese buffet as a line cook. I started out working at a subway in high school, and got this job because it paid my bills better. During covid it was hiring, and I had to make a move to deal with rising prices from inflation. Been working two jobs ever since.
Anyway, this place has been going to hell. The owner refuses to invest in proper equipment. Meat gets left out for hours and we are forced to prepare it and serve it to customers. Veggies will start to wilt but we are told just cover it in sauce and serve it. I had enough. I stood up to the owner after he told me to fry steak that was GREENISH. He told me I was robbing him by not making the food he buys and costing him money. When I brought this issue up and he threatened to fire me, and then he said something to his partner in Chinese and they both started laughing at me. He is going to get someone seriously sick.
Just had to rant about this. I think I’m going to have to start looking for a new job now. This place is awful. Thanks for listening
