This is not clickbait. Forgive if I'm being too cynical, but I find it somewhat laughable when we have meetings talking about our company, and one person gets emotional and starts crying about how much they love working there and how passionately devoted they feel because of what the company has supposedly done for them.
I had two coworkers from two different companies this year, one on the verge of tears, the other bawling, about how much they love the company and how it's so much better than what's out there. I was sitting next to one of them, and when they said “forgive me if I start crying” and all I could think was “I will start laughing like a hyena if I see tears rolling down this guy's face right in front of me”.
The only reason this bothers me is because these employees are kissing the feet of corporate firms that could drop them like a fly at any minute. That's what the first firm I worked at this year did to me. I told them I needed to work from home for one week so that I could receive radiation therapy for my cancer. I offered to work from home, because I thought that would make me less of a burden to the company. And one month later, when work was slow, I was hit with a PIP, dealt with two months of an incompetent and disorganized team, and then got fired and told it was all my fault people made mistakes.
So yeah, I do apologize if I sound unreasonably bitter or negative through this post. Maybe they're so grateful because work industry standards are shit, and these companies are the most decent ones they've gotten so far in their lives. But the idea of being that much in love with your company is tragic comedy to me.
