Antiwork

I don’t know if I’m just upset because I bombed an interview today, but does anyone else feel that the way interviews are structured have absolutely no reflection of who you are as a worker?

Asking questions like what are your strengths and what are your weaknesses, how you solve conflict within the office etc aren’t actually reflections of how you handle things- just how good you perform in interviews. Not to mention it’s just a completely nerve inducing process where you answer strange questions that you would never be asked in an actual conversation. You also have to speak in a completely different way than you normally talk to show professionalism, even if that in itself is not required in the actual job. I feel like people who know the ins and outs of interviews and are generally just better at conversating are so much more likely to get the job than someone who doesn’t. sigh
