I don’t understand why people stay in jobs that don’t pay a good salary.

This is based on the recent posts about what people make. I started as a driver for a CNC manufacturing shop making $15 an hour. We’re a part of a larger company that works in the petrochemical industry but that had nothing to do with my job. I drove back and forth to Houston all day. 6 years later (with a background in retail management…) I worked my way in to a Quality Control position within the shop making $30 an hour or roughly $62,000 a year ($75k-80k including overtime.) I learned on the job and worked hard to get where I am. Just took a promotion to our corporate office. I’m not trying to knock on anyone’s life stories but I applied for a job at random and was able to work my way up to a decent place. Just curious why people stay in fields (even if you…

Just curious why people stay in fields (even if you have a degree for it) if it isn’t paying what you deserve?
