For starters, I always get the food to the customer. I don't care to eat your food. I don't care where you oder from, what you want, etc. I pick up literally everything(had to pick up a Vibrator from cvs and tropical smoothie for someone once). I don't judge. I always follow the instructions of leave it at my door or hand it too me. My ratings were 99% completion rate(had one order I couldn't complete because I was shot at). Have a 4.94 star rating. And an 84% acceptance rate(I don't take orders unless the mile to pay ratio is the same or the pay ratio exceeds the mile ratio)
Anyway on to the issue at hand. Last week I made a delivery. I Doordarsh in memphis, TN. This delivery was at the FedEx house(known as the Ronald mcdonald house) for kids and their families with cancer.
For starters the address provided was a pin address, not a precise address. Usually these address get me right where I need to be, but this time it took me behind the fedex house instead of through the gate. I was provided no gate code and was told the recipient would be at the gate waiting.
After I found out that they were not at the side gate I went around to the front. I looked for anyone that could be wanting food. I saw no one at the gate and everyone passing was going to their cars, one guy and his partner were walking to do laundry, and a lady and her kids were playing.
I tried to call and text the recipient multiple times. The number was either disconnected or they had their phone turned off. I waited 10 minutes to deliver this order. During this time I tried looking through the dasher app to see if doordash could contact the recipient or tell me if this was a mistake address… nothing.
So eventually I just left the food at the gate and went to leave. As I was leaving someone and their kid literally from no where came and got the food. They had to of known I was there because you can see your dasher location on the app. So why did they not come out the moment they saw my vehicle thats clearly described in the app.
I was deactivated for this recipients bad review and for being “suspicious”. I tried multiple times to contact this recipient to make sure I was at the right place because the recipient was not at the gate as instructed in the app.
So now, I will not be able to pay my bills this month or next since I'm trying for a new job that will take me a month to obtain my first paycheck. I will not have gas, food, my phone, vehicle insurance, my meds that I'm already having to ration, and my storage unit will go overdue and I'll lose all my stuff because of a pretentious doordash recipient that couldn't get their head out their own ass for a second to do what they were supposed to and meet me at the gate as described in the app. If they didn't want contact they should have said “leave it at the gate” in the special instructions box. No, instead they said they'd meet at the gate to obtain the order. Now I'm out of my second job. Fml.
