A lill context: i work in marketing.
Everywhere ive worked (generally in agencies) I had older/ancient colleagues giving me orders and telling me what to do, even tho it's not their expertise! And I never had the chance to say anything because these people have always a bigger place in the company and their opinion a bigger weight, despite me being the litteral fucking expert! The boss also prefers to listen to them.
This is how it goes: I generally apply what they ask, KNOWING it's a bad decision, the result end up bad and shows that I was right all along. This happen all the fucking time.
