I drove over an hour to go to a job interview and left with no interview and a lot of anger.

I applied for a newly listed job and received a call the following day requesting an interview. The place is located about 1-2 hours away from where I live, but the job seemed to be hybrid remote so it wasn't something of concern to me. When I spoke to the recruiter on the phone they said they would love for the interview to be in person, which would have to be during that week as the people conducting it would be remote the following week. They seemed to be in a huge rush to get me in as soon as possible, so I cleared my schedule as best I could to make time for this because it would honestly take the entire day with how far it is.

'I drove there and arrived early, while I was walking to the place I was meant to meet the recruiter I got a call from him saying he was running late. I waited about 15 minutes before he showed up and he took me into the waiting room while saying he would go get one of the people I would be meeting during the interview.

I sat for 20 minutes before he came back out and told me “She's on a call, she'll be with you shortly. I need to head out for a bit so just wait here.” So I kept waiting, and waiting, and then eventually after another 20 minutes a woman comes out of the office seemingly talking on her phone with an overnight bag in her hand. She stood in the waiting room for a few minutes while taking a few confused glances at me. After another few minutes she lowers her phone and says to me “You're here to meet [person's name] right?” I said yes. She then replied “I'm trying to get a hold of her, I'm not sure where she went.” I told her it was no problem and I'd wait. Keep in mind she hasn't introduced herself or even apologized at this point.

She continued trying to call this other person to no avail and then once she had given up she looked to me and said “We might have to do this over Zoom, I have a flight to catch. I hope you didn't travel too far.”

To save some time in this story, they eventually got back to me about scheduling a Zoom interview, but then the following day told me that they no longer were hiring for this role. I'm currently planning on writing a nicely worded complaint back to them as they've wasted enough of my time.

How is anyone supposed to feel excited about their job or want to work when employers and companies have this kind of trash behavior?
